Meet the Artists of UNO
Thirteen artists. Thirty-nine panels. One body, rebuilt by you.
We went looking for ten artists. We found thirteen we couldn't let go.
After weeks of reviewing every portfolio that reached us, the curatorial committee of the Chilean Australian Association (CASA) has selected the thirteen artists who will create UNO — We are all one, a modular, interactive exhibition opening in Sydney this November with the support of the Consulate General of Chile in Sydney.
The open call was never going to be easy to judge. Painters, illustrators and multidisciplinary artists — Chilean, Colombian, Brazilian, Venezuelan, Japanese-Australian and Australian, emerging and established — sent work that was ambitious, personal and wildly different in style. The shortlist kept refusing to shrink. So we widened it, and the exhibition is better for it.
To everyone who applied and isn't on this list: your work made this a genuinely difficult decision, and we hope to see you in the room in November.

Madi Baird
Painting · Australia ·
An expressive figurative painter with a command of colour that does much of the emotional work. Madi's human figures are closely observed and confidently built — technique in service of feeling rather than the other way round.
Alissa Ceballos
Figurative art · Chilean-Venezuelan ·
Alissa approaches the human figure from an angle that's hard to place and easy to recognise. Bodies in her work feel less like subjects than like weather.
Guillermo Guzzoni
Photographer and Filmmaker · Chile ·
Visual creator whose work has managed to capture the essence of the everyday through photography and video. His career includes studies in Cuba, work in New Zealand, and a diverse career in Australia, where he has solidified his unique style.
Nick Hernández
Painting · Australia and Latinamerican heritage ·
Nick composes with colour, form and negative space in equal measure. There's a spatial intelligence in his work that makes it a natural fit for an exhibition built on how pieces sit next to each other.
Matt Hooker
Figurative art · New Zealand ·
Matt's figurative work carries a signature you can spot across a room — a personal handling of colour and of the human body that doesn't borrow from anyone.
Cristóbal Ibáñez (Zenabi)
Abstract art · Chile ·
Cristóbal returns to CASA after exhibiting in Chile Sentido in 2024. His abstract practice is methodical and precise — a useful counterweight in a show where thirty-nine panels have to speak to one another.
Felipe Labbé
Abstract and figurative · Chile ·
Felipe works in the gap between abstraction and figuration, with a painterly approach to the face in particular. His compositions were selected partly for how much they're likely to give the works hanging beside them.
Consuelo Larenas

Consuelo moves between graphic work and illustration with a clarity of purpose that's rare this early in a career. There's something in her line that doesn't look like anyone else's.
Tyrone Layne

Tyrone is an established artist whose work has been recognised in both Australia and the United States. He approaches the human figure and the space around it with a distinctive sense of consistency and character.
Rafaela Mori

Rafaela's work centres on fruit and the natural world, rendered with a signature entirely her own. In a show about bodies, hers brings the question of what a body is made of.
